I made these socks as part of a Sock Knit-Along for beginner sock knitters. These are actually my second pair of hand-knitted socks and they were indeed easier the second time around.
I attempted to use the yarn's striped color changes to match the pair exactly. The cuffs line up pretty well but I did the second sock's heel flap a couple of rows longer than the first sock (the lower one, above) and so the instep and toe stripes are not quite the same. Look at the toes (one orange and one yellow).
I've learned that I like my socks to fit pretty snug on my foot, so for my next pair I'll cast on fewer stitches. Also, I think there was a reason the yarn (KnitPicks Simple Stripes) was on sale: it,Aeos not particularly attractive or easy to match to clothing.
Socks for me are fun and very portable knitting. I'll be doing many more, I'm sure.
