Here are my completed Sockapalooza socks. I hope my pal likes them as much as I do.
There were a couple of knots in the second skein but I think I concealed the joins pretty well. Also, the lace that goes down the sides of the instep are reversed because I can't tell my left from my right. Well, that's not quite true: I put the left-hand lace on my left side, as I knit, instead of the sock's left as it would be worn. The result is that the bottom lace doesn't flow as nicely from the top as it should. I only noticed this when halfway done with the second sock, of course, so it became a feature instead of a bug, as they say.
My question is, what now? What do I do with the socks? Wash them or not? And since this is my first exchange, what do you suggest I include in the box? I know that nothing else is required, but what are some typical goodies that get sent to pals? And should I include the leftover yarn for her in case she needs it?
Thanks so much for your help along the way.

Your socks are so pretty! My votes for washing/not: I would definitely give them a quick wash (using soak or another such wool wash) so they'll smell nice when they arrive to your pal! As for extra goodies, I've seen stitch markers, crochet hooks, edible treats, mini packets of soak wash, or other small notions. And I would definitely send the extra yarn - that way your pal could even make a matching mini sock or something with it!
Those are great socks, good color and design! And I love the down-the-leg shot. I think the suggestions above are great.
I'm making those socks too! Only I did them in STR medium weight. I think the chart pattern for the top part of the foot after you split for the heel should have been reversed on the printout. Your brain knows to read charts from right to left, so I found it hard to read the the first chart on the left, then read the chart from the right. Does that make sense?
Beautiful socks!
I usually like to wash knitted gifts in mild dish soap before giving them, to take away some of that "wet sheep" smell... also, a quick spritz with Febreze doesn't hurt.
In past Sockapaloozas, I've sent out lip balm, hand lotion, chocolate, or a fun tape measure.
Those socks are gorgeous! I am 100% your pal will love them. That pattern is beautiful. I just finished my socks too!
