Poppy Progress

| | Comments (1)

I've made some quick progress on Poppy lately. I only have one sleeve left to go, before the finishing -- attaching the sleeves and adding crochet border. I did one sleeve first, just to see if I liked how the Noro knit up, but now that the body's done I'm really close to being finished already.

Here's the front and one sleeve:

Here's a bad self-portrait:

But, most importantly, we learn that this thing may actually fit!

Successful Cal hat

| | Comments (3)

When I took up knitting last year, the only thing Jason asked for was a knit hat in Cal Bears colors.

Attempt number one resulted in this failure last fall.

Let's see... it was too large, the gauge on the gold wasn't nearly that of the blue, he didn't like the folded brim or the swirled decreases on the top, and the blue wasn't dark enough. A failure indeed.

Attempt number two seems to be much more successful.

He's actually much happier than he appears here, because he is looking directly into the sun.

This is the top, which I like quite a lot. The paired decreases make a lovely little square.

Got my socks

| | Comments (4)

I got my Sockapalooza 4 socks today! I'm super excited.

Thank you Heather! The socks are adorable and fit great. I didn't request ankle socks but she must have read my mind. Maybe it's just my summertime feet but I've been craving some anklets and here they are!

The generous package included two lovely stitch markers, some Victoria Secret lip gloss, lavender hand lotion, an adorable felted bear kit, and a clever book called Oddball Knitting that I'd never seen before. It feels great to have someone treat you like this, and I can see why sock exchanges are so popular, and so fun!

Here's a socks-in-action shot.

The socks are in the mail

My Sockapalooza socks are on their way. Here's what I put in with them:

Two Scharffenberger chocolate bars, a pretty pad of paper, a postcard, a cute little sheep finger puppet (couldn't pass that up!) and the leftover yarn from the socks.

I hope she likes it all!
