Flying Spaghetti Monster

|

My favorite thing I knit this holiday season was this Flying Spaghetti Monster ornament for Jason.

Here it is before felting.

It was a bit of a challenge to keep this project under wraps before Christmas, particularly in finding time and a place to let it dry after felting without being discovered.

I am extraordinarily pleased with the outcome. The tentacles are many strings of stitches cast on (backward loop method) and immediately cast off. The meatballs are knitted orbs stuffed with polyfill. The eyes are glued on to shank buttons and sewn to the tentacles.

Pattern: Flying Spaghetti Monster by Civil Bitch. I found this via The Nauti Knitter, my friend LaDonna. She made one too!
Yarn: O-Wool Classic in chocolate and oatmeal.
Needles: size 4 and 10, bamboo
